KTM riders sweep junior motocross crowns in Czech Republic
MANILA, Philippines - World-renowned motorcycle factory team KTM put on a dominating performance in the FIM Junior Motocross World Championships, winning three titles behind young American Aiden Tijero, British rider Conrad Mewse and Latvian Pauls Jonass in Jinin, Czech Republic recently.
Tijero topped the 65cc championship, Mewse copped the middle class 85cc title while Jonass reigned in the 125cc class in an impressive showing by the world-renowned motorcycle factory team.
The Austrian-made sports bikes’ riders capped their supremacy by posting eight of the possible nine podium finishes in the event.
KTM thus added 13 more titles to its total this year, including another six world championship titles (three riders and three constructors) to the company’s impressive list of 236 world plums.
Tijero, who earned his slot in Team USA as the 65cc champion in the Loretta Lynn meet, was only fourth in the qualifying time trials but proved his worth by posting a 1-2 result in the two moto events.
Anton Nagy took the runner-up honors following his 3-3 finish while Petr Polak of Czech Republic ended 2-4 to complete KTM’s 1-2-3 podium sweep.
“The first race was pretty chaotic. I crashed and I only managed to take the win in the last corner,â€said Tijero.
