La Salle cagers gun for MYBall golden double

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle Green Hills shoots for a double championship against National U and Ateneo-A today in the Energen Mini-Youth Ball Metro Invitationals at the LSGH gym.

The defending champions Junior Archers, who swept the elimination round, take on the NU cagers in the finals of the Contender division (12-14 age group) at 10:20 a.m.

Also unbeaten in the Mini division (9-11 age group), the Junior Archers go all-out to topple defending champion Ateneo-A in the first finals match at 8:30 a.m.

The Junior Archers enjoy twice-to-beat edges in both finals after completing a pair of 7-0 sweeps.

But the Blue Eaglets and the Bullpups, both ranked third, hope to foil the Junior Archers after prevailing in the thrilling stepladder semifinals where they both stunned the No. 2 seeds.

The Blue Eaglets outlasted the favored Xavier University side, 47-39, after downing Ateneo-B, 57-46, in the Mini, while the Bullpups disposed the second-ranked Lourdes School Mandaluyong cagers, 82-74, and  Ateneo-A side, 75-66, in the Contender semifinals.

Meanwhile, the Energen MYBall Father and Son 2Ball Shootout gets going today with PBA cager Dondon Hontiveros and son Isaiah Miguel Blanco of Don Bosco Technical College among the finalists in the Mini division.
