PBA commish says sorry for Dubai snafu

- Joey Villar, Nelson Beltran -

MANILA, Philippines - PBA commissioner Chito Salud took full responsibility of the Dubai fiasco, visiting the Talk n Text team in practice yesterday to personally extend his apologies.

Salud dropped by the Tropang Texters’ practice at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center inside Ateneo before attending the PBA games at the Araneta Coliseum.

The league commissioner drew praises from the Texters for his gesture.

Talk n Text skipper Jimmy Alapag said they appreciated the commissioner’s move and that they’re ready to move on.

“Apreciated commish Salud coming to prac 2day to personally apologize about the Dubai trip. Very classy move by him,” said Alapag on his Twitter account.

“Done with practice now. Much respect for commish Salud for dropping by to explain things and personally say he’s sorry for the mess up,” said assistant coach Josh Reyes on his own Twitter account.

Coach Chot Reyes twitted: “Com Salud in today’s practice: ‘I am here 4 1 thing only: to personally apologize for what happened in Dubai.”

Reyes expressed optimism the Dubai incident would only galvanize the team.

“This will only fortify our already strong bond. As I always say, adversity, if it doesn’t break you, only makes you stronger,” Reyes told The STAR.

The Texters returned to practice yesterday after their messy Dubai trip, stranded for a few hours in the Middle East global city due to travel arrangement foul-up.

They resume their grand slam quest in taking on the Petron Blaze Boosters Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Salud earlier said he’s frustrated “one of my teams was left behind.”
