San Andres continues reign in national motocross

-

MANILA, Philippines - Kenneth San Andres staked his claim as the Philippines’ No. 1 rider by ruling the premier Pro Open category of the 2010 National Motocross Series’ third leg recently at Puerto Princesa’s world-class racetrack.

San Andres swept both two races of the Pro Open – worth 25 points each – to further build on his lead in the series, held under the auspices of the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA). He now holds a perfect 150 points after similar sweeps in the first two legs.

San Andres dominated the first heat of the Pro Open, where he quashed the efforts of Jonjon Adlawan (second), veteran Jolet Jao (third), Veli Gin Ramos (fourth) and Migi Tolentino (fifth) before pulling away from the pack by a mile.

“The crowd was amazing. I just wanted to give them a good show,” said San Andres, a Manila Central University Information Technology student of the 30,000 motocross enthusiasts.

San Andres, who is backed by Oakley, Bridgestone Tires, HJC Helmets, Fox Racing, Polisport, EZ Trailer, Inside Racing, JBS Motorcycle Parts and Accessories and Bike Plus, re-stamped his class in the final heat, fending off the challenge of Jao (second), Ramos (third), Milo Tolentino (fourth) and Miki Tolentino (fifth) to complete the sweep.

The many-time Philippine Sportswriters Association top awardee for motocross, San Andres is bracing for the third leg of the FIM Asian Motocross Championship Series this April at the Speedworld Circuit in SM City Bicutan, where he gets to pit skills with riders from Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Thailand, China, Mongolia, Guam, Saipan, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
