Air Force Rider trumps Loyola ATR, claims top spot

- Josue Jamlang -

MANILA, Philippines – It was the battle of the Armed Forces against the college-based sides last weekend, and it was perfectly clear who prevailed at the end of the three matches.

With Navy Selecta breezing past Green Archers Orient Freight, Air Force Rider surprisingly thumping Loyola ATR KimEng, and Army Phiten hammering Mendiola, the Armed Forces showcased why they are considered to be among the UFL’s toughest teams.

Navy Selecta stayed true to their under-the-radar image, starting off the day with a rather routine 2-0 victory over Green Archers Orient Freight. Lyndon Zamora’s side have not caused the same stir as some other clubs in the season so far, but with their win, zoomed to the top of the standings for a brief moment.

But Air Force Rider would reclaim the top spot in emphatic fashion, clobbering Loyola ATR KimEng, 5-0, to rest comfortably atop the First Division.

Army Phiten completed the Armed Forces’ sweep against Mendiola E-Games in the final match of the day, hammering the San Beda-based squad, 6-1.

Exciting matches are just around the corner as another Sunday of football is fast approaching. Will Air Force Rider hold on to their lead in the standings, or will Navy Selecta or Loyola ATR KimEng fight their way to the top?

The plot continues to thicken in the premier football league in the Philippines. This is the UFL. It’s OUR Game!
