FDCP nangakong hindi mababalewala ang nangyari kay manoy
Liza & Eddie

“Such a tragic loss indeed for the industry, and I can’t help but feel that this could have been prevented had there been standardized safety guidelines implemented for the TV and film industry. It is unfortunate that this clamor to look into our existing industry-wide practices is happening because of this sudden loss, unfortunate that it had to be you that this happened to. But at the same time, maybe it is for a reason. Na kailangang isang MANOY ang maka-experience nito so we can galvanize the whole industry again to take real and concrete actions to address this long-delayed reforms that need to be done to protect our film workers and our industry.

“Since last year, in coordination with the Bureau of Working Conditions and the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Division of DOLE, FDCP has been engaging with our stakeholders in the drafting of grounded and realistic guidelines to ensure the safety of film workers in the set and better working conditions in the film and TV industry.

“Early this year, we have revived our discussions and will continue to conduct consultation meetings until this is finalized. Things MUST CHANGE, and it must happen now.

“To Tito Eddie, habang nandito po ako FDCP, ipinapangako ko that your death will not be in vain. I will make sure that this film policy on working conditions and safety guidelines for the film and TV industry that the FDCP is now unofficially calling as The EDDIE GARCIA Policy for Film Workers, to honor you, will see the light of day ---- from within the mandate of our agency together with our government agency partners, until it is enacted as a legislation, as a LAW, that will ensure a more conducive environment for our film workers and the industry itself. At present, I am humbled to secure the commitment of some of our champions in Congress and the Senate.

“I will never forget what you told me, “Hija, thank you for what you’re doing to the industry. Wag kang mapapagod.” I promise you tito Eddie; I will be relentless to pursue this sa ngalan ng industriyang pareho nating mahal na mahal.”
