MANILA, Philippines - Wow wagi si Sarah Geronimo sa ginanap na 10th International Singing Contest: The Global Sound para sa kanyang kantang Kilometro.

Ayon sa balita na lumabas sa website ng Viva, tinalo ni Sarah ang ibang nakalaban na nagmula sa 26 na bansa tulad ng Belarus, Latvia, New Zealand, South Korea, Italy, Colombia, Denmark, Australia, Venezuela, Brazil, Turkey, Peru, Argentina, Lithuania, Mexico, Malaysia, Albania, The Netherlands, France, USA, Sweden, Singapore, United Kingdom, Portugal, and the Dominican Republic.

At dahil sa pagkapanalo ni Sarah, gumawa umano siya ng kasaysayan. Nauna na kasi pala siyang sumali sa nasabing contest para sa kantang Sino Nga Ba Siya at siya ang kauna-unahang nanalo na sumali lang uli.

At ito rin ang unang pagkakataon na nagmula sa Asian country ang nanalo.

Ang pagkakapanalo ni Sarah ay dinisesyunan ng  international jurors and YouTube views.

Mangiyak-ngiyak si Niño Bautista, may-ari ng Bargn Farmaceutici Phils Co. (BFPC) na nagpaliwanag tungkol sa mga lumabas na balita na nagre-repack ang kanilang kumpanya ng mga expired na mga produkto.

Hindi raw totoo ang nasabing balita, never daw silang nagre-repackage ng unsold o expired na food supplements na ang mga endorser ay malalaking artista.

Mga sikat na tulad nina Ruffa Gutierrez, Jodi Sta. Maria, Ge­rald Anderson ang ilan sa mga endorser ng BFPC kaya maagap sila sa pagpapaliwanag tungkol sa balitang ni-raid ang warehouse nila sa Tagaytay at nadiskubre ngang may mga expired products.

Ayon kay Niño, nandun sila sa warehouse nang dumating ang NBI agents at hindi sila nagtago. In fact, inilibot pa nila ito sa ilang lugar at naipaliwanag naman umano ng maayos ang lahat kaya nagulat sila nang lumabas na nagbebenta sila ng expired.

Umiiyak talaga si Niño na maraming kaibigan sa showbiz na awang-awa sa kanya.

Isang chemist si Niño at siya kasama ang partner na si Red Gatus ang nagtayo ng BFPC na ngayon ay isa sa pinakamabentang food supplement sa local market.

Anyway, narito ang kanilang official statement :

“BFPC is NOT selling/distributing expired food supplements.  The expired food supplements seized by the NBI at the Tagaytay warehouse are there for disposal/destruction purposes.  The same are pro­perly segregated, labelled and placed in a separate area within the warehouse in accordance with FDA-approved procedure.  

“BFPC CANNOT unilaterally dispose any expired food supplements.  The same is undertaken periodically in the presence of FDA representatives in accordance with FDA-approved procedure.

“Thus, from to time, expired food supplements are stored in the warehouse. 

“Expired food supplements are food supplements which have been returned by retailers/distributors because of: batch expiration and damaged packaging.

Please note that the expired food supplements were seized in the warehouse NOT in our retailers’ stores.  Our warehouse in Tagaytay is off-limits to the buying public,” sabi sa statement.

“Our warehouse is located at Pag-ibig Street Tagaytay City with a 560 sq. meters floor area. What was shown on TV was our family’s small storage dedicated for the sto­rage of carpentry materials.  Occasionally, used/old marketing materials are also stored in the same area,” patuloy ni Niño.

“The seized food supplements are now stored at the NBI. Tests will be conducted with FDA representatives, and hopefully with our presence.  The seized items are indeed expired food supplements and we are confident that the NBI and FDA test result confirm it as being ‘expired.’

 “Again, these expired Food Supplements are not being sold to the public and/or offered for sale, either in the warehouse or in our retailer’s stores.  The same are subject for disposal and destruction in accordance with FDA-approved procedure,” pagtatapos ni Niño kasama ang kanyang abogado na si Atty.
