Chinese to produce light cars for environment
Hefei City – An automation company based here has been doing years of research on reducing the weight of passenger cars to help cut carbon emission.
Since its establishment in 2005, JEE Automation Equipment Co. Ltd. has researched on technology to produce lightweight cars, the company with 500 employees said in a briefing last Sunday.
The technology will use aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy, carbon fiber and other lightweight materials to produce car bodies and parts, it added.
By using advanced connection technology devised by the company, it succeeded in researching and establishing its own mechanisms like self-piece riveting, flow drill screwing, fasteners riveting, aluminum laser welding and others.
The advanced process helped the company shorten production time from six months to only three, and reduce investment in equipment by 30 million yuan.
“If the weight of the car is lessened by 10 percent, emission of carbon dioxide can be reduced by five or six percent,” Tang Wei, JEE’s assistant general manager said.
Tang said JEE would make sure the cars will have quality and best efficiency.
