29 kaso ng EJK, ibinasura ng DOJ
MANILA, Philippines — Inalis na ng Department of Justice (DOJ) sa listahan ang 29 kaso ng extrajudicial killings dahil sa kawalan ng testigo, ayon kay Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
“Those were very old cases where no witnesses could be found despite diligent efforts of our special investigation teams. And there were many cases where the complainants desisted from pressing charges,” paliwanag ni Guevarra.
Marami umano sa mga kaso ay mas nauna pa bago ilabas ang Administrative Order No. 35 noong 2012 na lumilikha sa Inter-Agency Committee On Extra-Legal Killings, Enforced Disappearances, Torture, and Other Grave Violations of the Right to Life, Liberty and Security of Persons (IAC).
Kabilang sa mga kasong hindi na iimbestigahan ng DOJ ay nangyari noon pang 2002.
Patuloy naman umano sa pag-aaral sa 352 kaso ng ‘police anti-drug operations’ mula noong 2016 ang binuong ‘inter-agency special composite teams’ na binubuo ng Department of National Defense, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, at Commission on Human Rights.
