Kouame makakalaro na sa 3rd window ng FIBA ACQ
MANILA, Philippines — Tuloy na ang paglalaro ni naturalized Filipino Ange Kouame para sa Gilas Pilipinas sa huling window ng 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers sa susunod na linggo matapos ang go-signal mula sa International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
Ayon sa anunsyo ng Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas kahapon ay rehistrado na si Koaume sa FIBA na siyang huling hakbang sa proseso ng kanyang paglalaro sa Gilas bilang pinakabagong naturalized player nito.
“We thank our allies from the Bureau of Immigration, Department of Foreign Affairs, House of Representatives, Senate, and Office of the President as it was their swift action that led to this important step in our program,” ani SBP president Al Panlilio.
“As we’ve always said, the earlier we see Ange wearing a Gilas jersey for an official FIBA game, the better it would be for our program in the long run. We’re thrilled that he’ll get the chance to play in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers here at home and we cannot wait to see him and the rest of the team in action.”
Nagsimula ang proseso ni Kouame nang lumusot ang panukalang batas na nagbigay sa kanya ng Filipino citizenship sa pamamagitan ng naturalization sa Kongreso at Senado noong Marso na pinirmahan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte upang maging ganap na batas.
Nakuha ni Kouame na tubong Ivory Coast ang kanyang Philippine passport noong nakaraang linggo at ngayon ay handa nang maging bagong reinforcement ng Nationals kasunod nina Marcus Douthit at Andray Blatche.
