MANILA, Philippines — Magkakaroon pa si Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal ng sapat na panahon para paghandaan ang unang ranking qualifying tournament ng 2020 Olympic Games sa Tokyo, Japan.

Iniurong ng mga organizers ang pagdaraos ng nasabing Olympic qualifying tournament sa Marso mula sa orihinal na petsang Pebero 6 hanggang 9 sa Melbourne, Australia.

Sinabi kahapon ni Skateboarding and Roller Sports Association of the Philippines (SRSAP) president Monty Mendigoria na ito ay dahil sa ginagawang rehabilitasyon sa nasunog na kagubatan at kabundukan sa Australia.

“It was moved to March because of the ongoing bush fire rehabilitation in Australia. But definitely we are getting her ready for all the ranking qualifying competitions towards the Tokyo Olympics,” paniniyak ni Mendigoria.

Sinabi pa ni Mendigoria, may 11 ranking qualifying tournaments na inilatag hanggang sa buwan ng Mayo para sa 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“We will be selecting the tournaments that we will be joining since most of them are all in the same months,” wika ng SRSAP chief.

Kasalukuyang nakapuwesto ang 20-anyos na Cebuana star sa No. 13 women’s street world rankings at inaasahang makakapasok sa top 20 skaters na maglalaro sa quadrennial event.

Maliban kay Didal, naghahangad din ng tiket sa 2020 Tokyo Olympics si Kiko Francisco.

Kumampanya si Didal sa women’s street event, habang sasabak si Francisco sa men’s park competition.

Bukod sa Australia, lalahok din si Didal sa isa pang Olympic ranking qualifying tournament sa Las Vegas, Nevada sa Marso at sa Francisco sa Lima, Peru.

Inangkin ni Didal ang dalawa sa kabuuang anim na gintong medalya ng Team Philippines sa skateboarding competition ng nakaraang 30th Southeast Asian Games.
