Go For Gold Skateboarding National Championships hahataw ngayon

MANILA, Philippines —  Mag-aagawan ang mga pinakamahuhusay na ska-ters sa puwesto sa national team sa pagpapakawala sa Mindanao leg ng 2019 Go For Gold Skateboarding National Championships ngayon sa Saranggani province.

Humigit-kumulang sa 60 aspirants ang sasabak sa downhill challenge sa Barangay Bagacay sa Alabel, Saranggani at sa Game of Skate sa Robinsons Mall sa General Santos City.

“I believe skateboarding is a great sport to encou-rage our youth. It’s not so expensive and can be done almost anywhere,” wika ni Go For Gold godfather Jeremy Go.

Pinamunuan nina skaters Abigail Viloria at Arianne Mae Trinidad ang women’s division sa nakaraang Luzon leg noong Abril habang sina Charles Louise Paje at Tomas Romualdez ang bumandera sa men’s side.

“We are looking for the best skaters in the regionals,’’ wika ni Monty Mendigoria, ang presidente ng Skateboarding and Roller Sports Association of the Philippines Inc.

“The top three participants from the regionals will get the chance to prove their worth in the national SEA Games qualifying championship,” dagdag pa ni Mendigoria na nakakuha ng suporta mula sa Go for Gold Philippines.

Inilipat ang Visayas qualifier sa Hunyo 1 at 2 sa Iloilo skatepark mula sa original venue sa Cebu City.

Nangangarap ang lahat ng skaters na marating ang katayuan ngayon ni Cebuana Margielyn Didal, ang Filipino skateboarding idol na nanalo ng gold medal sa Asian Games at hangad makalaro sa 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“We feel that Margie and the skateboarding team will become our bright lights in the 2020 Olympics, and hopefully they can bring home our first Olympic gold medal,” ani Go, ang vice president for marketing ng Powerball Marketing and Logistics Corp., ang prime mover sa likod ng Go For Gold program.

Ang mga top performers mula sa tatlong regional legs ang papasok sa national finals sa Agosto 24-25 sa Sta. Rosa, Laguna at maglalaban sa puwesto sa national team na sasabak sa SEA Games sa Nobyembre 30 hanggang Disyembre 11.
