Sto. Tomas sure na sa overall title

MANILA, Philippines — Halos sigurado na ang University of Santo Tomas sa general championship ng UAAP Season 81.

Anuman ang maging resulta ng women’s volleyball finals sa pagitan ng UST at Ateneo de Manila University na lalaruin ngayong araw sa Mall of Asia Arena, hindi na ito makakaapekto sa No. 1 position ng Growling Tigers.

Nakalikom ang UST ng 270 puntos – malayo sa 250 puntos ng pumapangalawang De La Salle University at pumapangatlong University of the Philippines na may 231 puntos na nakolekta.

Nakakuha ng malaking puntos ang UST sa kampeonato nito sa beach volleyball (men at women), judo (men at women), table tennis (men at women) at women’s athletics habang pumangalawa ito sa men’s division, women’s poomsae ng taekwondo, women’s fencing at softball at pumangatlo sa women’s football, women’s basketball, men’s swimming at men’s tennis.

Ito ang ika-43 overall championship title ng España-based squad sa liga.

Hindi naman sapat ang pamamayagpag ng La Salle sa women’s football at second-place trophy sa men’s football para paangatin ang Taft-based team sa ranking.

Gayunpaman, maliban sa women’s football, nakapagbulsa pa rin ang La Salle ng korona sa women’s chess, poomsae at baseball at runner-up trophies sa women’s beach volley, men’s swimming, women’s table tennis, women’s tennis at men’s fencing.

Tumersera naman ang La Salle sa women’s taek-wondo, softball, women’s badminton at women’s swimming.

Sa kabilang banda, may isang korona ang UP mula sa men’s athletics habang may second-place din ito sa men’s basketball, women’s swimming, wo-men’s chess, men at women’s badminton, at women’s taekwondo, at naka-third place sa men’s football, women’s beach volley, women’s table tennis, women’s athle-tics, poomsae at men’s taekwondo.

Nasa No. 4 ang Ateneo (22 points) kasunod ang National University (192), University of the East (140), Far Eastern University (137) at Adamson University (115).

Wagi ng ginto ang Ateneo sa men’s football, men’s basketball, men at women’s swimming, women’s badminton at women’s fencing habang nakasikwat ng unang puwesto ang NU sa men’s volleyball, women’s basketball, men at women’s tennis, men’s badminton, at sa men at women’s taekwondo.

May tig-iisang titulo ang UE (men’s fencing), FEU (men’s chess) at Adamson (softball).
