Pondong P1.83M makukuha ng mga dating atleta mula sa PSC bilang retirement pay

MANILA, Philippines - Pangungunahan ni re­­tired cuemaster Anto­nio Gabica, nagwagi ng gold medal sa men’s 9-ball singles noong 2006 Asian Games, ang grupo ng 17 dating atleta na bibigyan ng Phi­lippine Sports Commission (PSC) ng pondong P1.83 milyon bilang “re­tirement benefits” sa ila­lim ng  Republic Act 9064 or the Incentives Act.

Makakakuha si Ga­bica ng P427,500 bilang retirement pay.

Sa ilalim ng RA 9064, ang isang national athlete na nagwagi sa Southeast Asian Games, Asian games, Olympics at sa quadrennial world championships ay maaaring makakuha ng lump sum na katumbas ng 25 porsiyento sa kan­yang kabuuang cash incentives mula sa pagsisimula ng kanyang career hanggang sa pagreretiro niya.

Sina dating national boxers Joan Tipon at Violita Payla ay tatanggap ng P287,500 at P252,500, ayon sa pag­ka­kasunod.

Makakakuha rin ng ka­nilang mga retirement pay sina Olympian Harry Tañamor (P187,500), Busan Asian Games 9-ball doubles champion Antonio Lining (P150,000), 2005 SEAG gym­­nastic gold winner Roel Ramirez (106,834) at nine-time SEAG judo champion John Baylon (P100,000).

Ang iba pang retiradong boksingerong ka­sama sa first batch ay sina Mitchel Marti­nez (P40,000), Larry Se­millano (15,000), Jua­nito Magliquian, Jr. (P37,500), Joegin Ladon (P27,500), Doha Asiad bronze meda­lists Genebert Basadre (P50,000) at Godfrey Cas­tro (P37,500)  at Bill Vi­cera (P27,500).

Ang iba pa ay sina Olympian marathoner Roy Vence (P37,500), Bangkok Asiad bronze me­dalist Manel Ycasas (P25,000) at wushu ar­tist Mary Jane Estimar (P25,000).
