Captain America na si Chris Evans gusto nang makarating ng Pilipinas
Chris Evans

Wow, eager bumisita ng bansa ang sikat na Hollywood actor na si Chris Evans ‘pag hindi na mahigpit ang travel restrictions. Ang bigating Hollywood actor (Captain America: The First Avenger, Avengers: End Game, etc.) ang latest ambassador ng Smart Communications para sa kanilang Live Smarter for a Better World campaign.

“I’ve heard great things. Great beaches! I’ve heard that today, actually. I heard great food. Wonderful people. I mean every time I am in any sort of Asian territory it’s always hard to leave because it is incredibly welcoming and aesthetically beautiful so I am eager to visit,” sagot ng actor nang tanungin siya kung anong alam niya tungkol sa Pilipinas.

Nabanggit din ni Mr. Alfredo Panlilio, Smart Communications’ President and Chief Executive Officer na handa ngang bumisita ng bansa si Chris na kilala ring dog lover.

“Actually, we had a conversation with him. I told him that he has an open invitation to come to the Philippines, visit the islands. We can even bring him to Amanpulo if he wants to. Hopefully, if travel restrictions were lifted and it’s safer to travel, we could talk to him to visit us soon.”

Since Smart ang latest endorsement, tinanong din siya ni Nelson Canlas ng GMA News ng “Since the brand is SMART, we can’t help but ask: What is the smartest thing you have ever done in life? And what is the dumbest thing you have ever done in life?

Sagot ng actor – “The smartest thing I have ever done was adopt my dog Dodger. I was filming a movie in Savannah, Georgia and we shot a scene at a shelter and he was there and I wasn’t planning on adopting a dog but I went for it and so far? Best decision I ever made.

“Dumbest thing? The list is long uhm and the true answer I can’t probably tell yah (laughs). But let me give you a nice answer. Dumbest thing I ever done was I quit drum lessons when I was younger and I wish I stuck with that.”

Q : What made you say YES to the partnership?

CHRIS: Well I’ve always liked the idea of working with a company in the Philippines. It’s a great part of the world and Smart felt like a very forward thinking company so it felt like a good fit.

Q : You’ve starred in the highest grossing film of all time. But what movie you’ve seen the most times and why?

CHRIS: Probably NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE because it was my FIRST movie and when it’s your first movie you have to go see it with multiple people like family and friends. It also plays on TV a decent amount so oddly enough probably that one.

Q : You’re known to be active on social. What is your favorite social media app and why?

CHRIS: My favorite social media app? NOT a huge fan of social media apps in general. And I’m only on twitter and Instagram so if there are any fake … what are the other ones? Facebook? No I am not on Facebook although I think there’s a Facebook page for me although I have nothing to do with it. I mean I am new to Instagram and I suppose I use Twitter the most uhm but it’s tough to say favorite. They all just make me just a little sad (smiles).

Q: As you have been very active in using your social media accounts (as well as using your celebrity power) to raise awareness towards various issues, Smart’s campaign called “Live Smarter for a Better World” must have resonated with you. What would you say to inspire people to live smarter?

CHRIS: I would say like it seems like a real platitude but I would say READ MORE. I think that it’s easy for us to think that all the issues we’re going through as a country and as a world really is somehow unique to this moment when the truth is when you read history you realize that a lot of these things tend to repeat. And you can get a lot of information to address not just what’s going on but it also opens up your understanding and compassion.

Q : And how would Chris Evans create a Better World?

CHRIS: Ahh well start by getting people to read more. Uhm and I suppose slow down a little bit. I think that we kind of tend to (at least in America) the American stories just moves quicker and quicker and I think the ability to kind of slow down and take time with the little things whether it is brushing your teeth or cooking breakfast … just remember to be in yourself and be still every now and then. I think slowing down and being still will pay back in enormous ways.

Q : You have gone on to become one of Hollywood’s most successful actors. A proud Boston native. A dedicated dog lover. And overall, a genuine nice guy. Is there anything else that you still want to achieve in life?

CHRIS: My appetite changes pretty quickly. Some days I wake up and I am curious about carpentry and as I said I would love to pick up drum classes again. I’d also like to do more writing and more traveling. So yeah there’s a lot of things. They are not necessarily professionally-related uhm it wouldn’t necessarily be about what I will do in my career but more about what I would explore on my downtime. My hobbies.

Q : Tell us: What was the inspiration behind the civic engagement platform A Starting Point?

CHRIS: Well, it was born out of recognizing that we were living in this proliferation of misinformation – that it’s really hard to have a political discussion with people because most people come into the table with their own set of facts and information. So it felt like the most intuitive way to rage against that would be getting the information from elected officials directly from themselves to the electorate so we have at least an understanding of who the people in office are and what they believe in.

Q : What message do you have for all your fans in the Philippines who were all happy to see your first campaign with Smart come to life?

CHRIS: Well I would say that I can’t wait to get out there. I can’t wait to visit. I have heard nothing but amazing things and this partnership only makes me more excited to come and say hi.
