Tagpuan ni Alfred, best feature film sa India

Wow, after ng 11 nominations and 2 awards (3rd best picture and best supporting actress for Shaina Magdayao) sa Metro Manila Film Festival last December, dineklarang Best Feature Film at the 6th Chauri Chaura International Film Festival in India ang pelikulang Tagpuan ni Cong. Alfred Vargas.

Kaya naman elated si Cong. Alfred, na lead actor and producer ng Tagpuan, sa natanggap na international recognition ng pelikula. ‘”Thank you, Lord!

“Hanggang tenga ang aking ngiti. Such good news! This is once again a testament to the Filipino talent and creativity. Congrats to Direk Mac who did a brilliant job in intertwining the medium’s space and time with its emotions, places, and characters to effectively narrate Ricky Lee’s wonderfully captivating screenplay. Congratulations also to my co actors, Iza Calzado and Shaina Magdayao and everybody who worked on our film,” sabi ng actor/politician.

Ayon naman kay Direk Mac Alejandre, ang Tagpuan ang kanyang “ode to brokenness and love that cannot be.” Dagdag niya tungkol sa pelikula, “is about finding one’s roots and home in places one can never call their own.”

Ang Tagpuan ay kuwento ni Allan (Alfred) na nahiwalay sa kanyang misis (Iza Calzado) for 5 years pero by chance ay nagkita sila nito sa New York.

Habang sinusubukan nilang i-rekindle ang kanilang pagmamahalan, hindi naman si Allan pinatatahimik ng kanyang past encounter sa isang misteryosang babae na nakilala nila sa Hongkong, si Taya (Shaina Magdayao).

Ang Tagpuan na shot in New York City, Hongkong and Manila also deals with the diaspora, the travails of Filipino OFWs and immigrants.

Alfred elaborates, “Tagpuan is the story of Filipinos all around the world. Through this film, we were able to tell our story and share our emotions, culture, sensibilities, and worth to the rest of the world.”

Dahil sa nasabing pagkilala, nangako si Cong. Alfred na magpo-produce pa siya ng mga pelikula na katulad nito.

“This Best Feature Film award from an International film festival is an inspiration for me to produce more films that are truly Filipino in spirit and are competitive in quality when placed on the international stage. Definitely, more quality films can be expected from AV Cinema.”

Ang Chauri Chaura International Film Festival is the second international film festival for Tagpuan.

Last month, nakipag-compete din ang MMFF entry sa Dhaka International Film Festival.

Hindi ito naman ang unang pelikula ng AV Cinema na sumabak sa international competition.

Last year ay pumpasok sa tatlong international film festivals ang Kaputol na pinagbibidahan din ni Alfred.

Anyway, marami raw offer sa kasalukuyan para makuha ang TV rights ang Tagpuan pero ayon sa actor / politician ay wala pang napa-finalize tungkol dito.
