Balikatan ang Tour of Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Umakit ng interes mula sa mga foregn teams ang eight-stage Tour of Luzon na tinawag na “Great Revival.”

Nangyari ito sa Thailand noong Pebrero sa 2025 Asian Cycling Confe­deration Road Championships.

“We’re not even on the international calendar of the UCI (International Cycling Union) yet, but enthusiasm and interest about the Tour of Luzon are as feverish as they are here at home,” sabi ni Patrick “Pató” Gregorio, ang presidente ng DuckWorld PH na organi­zer ng Tour of Luzon na ini­hahandog ng Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), pinamumunuan ni Chief Regulatory Officer Arrey Perez, ng MVP Group.

Sasalang ang CCN Factory HK ng Hong Kong, Malaysia Pro Cycling, Bryton Racing Team ng Taiwan at Gapyeong Cycling Team ng South Korea.

Bibitawan ang Tour of Luzon sa Abril 24 sa Paoay, Ilocos Norte.

Papadyak din ang mga kapwa UCI continental teams na 7-Eleven Cliqq Roadbike Philippines, Standard Insurance Philippines, Go For Gold Philippines at Victoria Sports Pro Cycling Team sa karerang may basbas ng PhilCycling na pinamumunuan ni Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, ang pangulo rin ng Philippine Olympic Committee.

Ang iba pang kalahok ay ang Philippines National Under-23-Tom N Toms Coffee, Excellent Noodles, DReyna Orion Cement, Dandez T-Prime Cycling Team, Exodus Army, MPT Drive Hub Cycling Team, 1 Team Visayas, One Cycling Mindanao at Team Pangasinan.

Kasama ang Pilipinas sa UCI calendar sa loob ng 10 taon simula sa Le Tour de Filipinas, ang legacy ng yumaong si Air21 founder at chairman Alberto “Bert” Lina na ikinukunsiderang cycling godfather.

Premyong P1 milyon ang makukuha ng champion team at ang individual champion ay tatanggap ng P500,000 sa Tour of Luzon na katuwang ang Cardinal Santos Medical Center (Official Medical Partner), GO21 (Official Logistics Partner), Dong Feng Motors (Official Vehicle Partner), Victory Liner, Digital Out of Home (DOOH), Public Safety Savings and Loan Association, Inc. (PSSLAI), Unilab, Huawei, To­yota, MVP Group/We Are Sports at Pilipinas Live.
