Paralympians may heroes� welcome sa Malacañang
The Philippine Paralympic Team has returned to the country following their inspiring stint in the 17th Paralympic Games, which took place in Paris, France.

MANILA, Philippines — Bagama’t walang naiuwing medalya ang Team Philippines sa katatapos na Paralympic Games sa Pa­ris, may heroes’ welcome pa rin ang mga ito kasama si Pangulong Bongbong Marcos.

Nakatakda ngayong araw ang courtesy call ng Paralympians sa alas-2:30 ng hapon sa Malacañang Palace kung saan nag-aabang si Marcos.

“Our President is very supportive who acknow­ledges and recognizes the efforts of our athletes,” ani Philippine Paralympic Committee president Michael Barredo.

Magtutungo sa Malacañang sina Agustina Bantiloc ng archery, Allain Ganapin ng taekwondo, wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan, javelin thrower Cendy Asusano, at swimmers Angel Otom at Ernie Gawilan.

Inihanda ng Malacañang ang programa tulad ng ginawa nito sa Team Philippines na matagum­pay na nakapag-uwi ng dalawang ginto at dalawang tanso sa Paris Olympics.

Nagpasalamat si Barredo sa oras na ilalaan ng Pangulo para makasa­la­­muha ang Paralympic team.

Sinuportahan ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) sa pangunguna ni chairman Richard Bachmann ang preparasyon at buong partisipasyon ng Pinoy Paralympians sa Paris.

Nais ni Bachmann na palakihin ang insentibo ng mga para athletes gaya ng mga natatanggap ng mga regular na atleta.

“We are working with Congress to increase the cash incentives of our me­dal-winning para athletes similar to the incentives that our athletes in the Olympics normally receive,” ani Bachmann.
