TNT tagilid sa San Miguel

MANILA, Philippines — Tatlong beses nagkampeon ang TNT Tropang Giga sa PBA Philippine Cup noong 2011 hanggang 2013 kasunod ang dominasyon ng San Miguel sa sumunod na limang taon.

Sisimulan ng Tropang Giga at Beermen ang kanilang best-of-seven championship series bukas sa Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Ayon kay TNT coach Chot Reyes, mas malakas ngayon ang lineup ng SMB sa pagkakadagdag nina CJ Perez, Vic Manuel at Jericho Cruz.

“If you take a look at the lineup and how deep and how strong the other team is, because there’s two teams battling, it’s 50-50... It’s one or the other,” wika ng nine-time PBA champion mentor.

Maglalaro ang TNT sa ika-21 finals appearance target ang pang-siyam na titulo, habang ito ang pang-43 championship stint ng SMB hangad ang ika-28 korona.

Sinibak ng Tropang Giga ang Magnolia Hotshots, 4-2, at tinakasan ng Beermen ang Meralco Bolts, 4-3, sa kani-kanilang best-of-seven semifinals showdown.

Bukod kina Perez, Manuel at Cruz ay magi­ging problema rin ng TNT sina six-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo, big man Moala Tautuaa, shooter Marcio Lassiter, forward Rodney Brondial at guard Chris Ross.

“Our only chance to be able to compete is for us to consistently play our best,” ani Reyes. “Hopefully we can have better preparation and we hopefully find ways to match the talent of the San Miguel team.”

Ito ang pagbabalik ng Beermen sa Philippine Cup Finals matapos noong 2019 kung saan nila tinalo ang Hotshots sa Game Seven, 73-71.
