MANILA, Philippines — Inilabas na ng Sama­hang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) ang 24 players na isasabak sa fourth window ng FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Pinangalanan ng SBP ang mga PBA players na mapapasama sa lineup kabilang na sina six-time MVP June Mar Fajardo ng San Miguel Beer at reigning MVP Scottie Thompson ng Barangay Ginebra.

Pasok din sina Jio Jalalon at Ian Sangalang ng Magnolia Hotshots, Kevin Alas at Calvin Oftana ng NLEX, Robert Bolick at Jamie Malonzo ng Northport, at sina Japeth Aguilar at Arvin Tolentino ng Gin Kings.

Kasama rin si CJ Perez ng Beermen, at sina Chris Newsome, Allein Maliksi at Raymond Almazan ng Meralco.

Makakasama ng mga PBA players ang mga Gilas Pilipinas pool na nauna nang pinangalanan ng SBP gaya nina NBA star Jordan Clarkson ng Utah Jazz at Kai Sotto ng Ade­laide 36ers.

Nasa pool din sina  Kie­fer (Shiga) at Thirdy Ravena (San-En), Bobby Ray Parks Jr. (Nagoya) at Dwight Ramos (Hokkaido) na mga imports sa Japan B.League gayundin sina collegiate standouts Carl Tamayo, Kevin Quiambao at Francis Lopez, at free agent Adams Roosevelt.

Isinumite na ng SBP ang listahan ng 24 players sa FIBA.

Nagsimula na ang en­sayo noong Lunes sa Me­ralco Gym sa Ortigas Avenue sa Pasig City kung saan dumating sina Alas, Oftana, Malonzo, Kiefer, Thirdy, Ramos, Parks, Quiambao, Tamayo at Lo­pez.

“Gilas Pilipinas conduc­ted its first practice under head coach Chot Reyes Monday night, Aug. 15,” ayon sa statement ng SBP.

Nasa closed-door session din sina Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes, at assistant coaches Tim Cone at Josh Reyes habang dumaan din si SBP Executive Director Sonny Barrios.

“Several more players, especially from the pros, are expected to show up in practice as Gilas Pilipinas buckles down in preparation for two qualifiers highlighting the fourth window of the FIBA World Cup set Aug. 25 to Sept. 10 next year,” ayon pa sa statement ng SBP.

Inaasahang darating ang iba pang PBA pla­yers sa mga susunod na sesyon ng ensayo ng Gilas Pilipinas.

“The first day of practice covered shooting drills with several variations and fast ball movement, with Cone, a two-time Grand Slam champion coach in the Philippine Basketball Association, providing inputs,” dagdag pa ng SBP.
