MANILA, Philippines — Dalawang gintong medalya ang inangkin ng Team Philippines isang araw matapos ang pormal na pagbubukas ng 31st Southeast Asian Games kahapon sa Hanoi, Vietnam.

Sinikwat ni two-time world champion Caloy Yulo ang ginto sa men’s individual all-around event ng gymnastics habang nagdomina si Jackielou Escarpe sa men’s 73 kgs division sa kurash.

Humakot si Yulo ng 85.150 points mula sa floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars at horizontal bar para sa pagdedepensa ng kanyang titulo sa nasabing event.

Sinapawan ni Yulo sina Vietnam bets Le Thanh Tung (84.050) at Dinh Phuong Thanh (82.450) at nagbulsa ng silver sa team competitions.

Binigo naman ni Escarpe si Apicha Boonrangsee ng Thailand para pitasin ang gold medal sa kurash.

Mayroon nang 3 gold, 9 silver at 10 bronze medals ang Pilipinas para sa No. 4 spot sa medal standings sa ilalim ng Vietnam (20-11-15), Malaysia (11-5-8) at Indonesia (5-8-1).

Ang unang ginto ng Pinas ay mula kay Mary Francine Padios sa wo­men’s seni tunggal event ng pencak silat.

Nag-ambag ng tatlong silver medals sina wushu artist Jones Inso (men’s taijiquan event) at kickboxers Gretel De Paz (Full Contact Female -56kg) at Renalyn Daquel (Full Contact Female -48kg).

Sinagwan nina rowers Edgar Ilas, Roque Abala Jr., Zuriel Sumintac at Joachim De Jesus ang bronze me­dal sa men’s lightweight coxless.

Tanso rin ang nakuha nina Joanie Delgaco, Kharl Julianne Sha, Feiza Jane Lenton at Alyssa Hannah Go sa women’s lightweight quadruple sculls at sina Athens Tolentino, Van Maxilom, CJ Jasmin at Emmanuel Obaña sa men’s lightweight quadruple sculls.

Sa men’s 3x3 basketball, tinapos nina Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, Jorey Napoles, Marvin Hayes at Reymar Caduyac ang Day One bitbit ang 2-1 record matapos manalo sa Thailand, 21-16, at Cambodia, 19-7, at Indonesia, 13-15.
