MANILA, Philippines — Ang pagduplika sa nakolektang mga medalya noong nakaraang Southeast Asian Games ang hangad ng Philippine Athletics Track And Field Association (PATAFA) sa paglahok sa 31st edition sa Hanoi, Vietnam.

Noong 2019 Manila SEA Games ay humakot ang national team ng kabuuang 11 gold, 8 silver at 8 bronze medals sa ilalim ng Vietnam (16-12-10) at Thailand (12-11-12).

“This is just very, very ideal. Siguro at the very least is maintain the 11 golds, 8 silvers, 8 bronzes,” sabi kahapon ni PATAFA president Philip Ella Juico sa online session ng Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum.

Kabilang sa mga nagtakbo ng gintong medalya noong 2019 Manila SEA Games ay sina pole vaul­ter Ernest John Obiena, Fil-Am sprinter Kristina Knott, hurdler Eric Cray, pole vaulter Natalie Uy at marathon queen Christine Hallasgo.

“Most of them are still around, most of them are in shape, most of them have continued training,” ani Juico. “Of course, those who are training abroad continued. Tuluy-tuloy pa rin iyan eh.”

Magdaraos ang PATAFA ng ilang performance trials para sa mga national athletes na isasabak sa Hanoi SEA Games na nakatakda sa Mayo 12-23.

Idinagdag ni Juico na hindi lamang ang Hanoi SEA Games ang kanilang pinaghahandaan kundi maging ang 19th Asian Games sa Hangzhou, China sa Setyembre.
