Tokyo Olympics non-medalists may bonus din

MANILA, Philippines — Maski ang mga miyembro ng Team Philippines na nabigong manalo ng medalya sa Tokyo Olympic Games ay may matatanggap na bonus.

Ito ang inihayag kahapon ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president at Tagaytay City Rep. Bambol Tolentino sa pagbibigay nila ng tig-P500,000 sa mga Tokyo Olympics non-medalists.

Katulong ng POC sa paghahandog ng nasabing cash incentives ang MVP Sports Foundation ni businessman/sportsman Manny V. Pangilinan.

“Everyone on Team Philippines in these ‘Golden Olympics’ deserve all the praises, and in this case, incentives, they need,” sabi ni Tolentino. “Qualifying for the Olympics is already that difficult, what more competing in the Games themselves.”

Ang mga tatanggap ng tig-P500,000 mula sa POC at MVPSF ay sina gymnast Carlos Yulo, pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena, boxer Irish Magno, rower Cris Nievarez, taekwondo jin Kurt Barbosa, skateboarder Margielyn Didal, shooter Jayson Valdez, judoka Kiyomi Watanabe, weightlifter Elreen Ando, golfer Juvic Pagunsan, sprinter Kristina Knott at swimmers Re­medy Rule at Luke Gebbie.

Ibinigay ni weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz ang kauna-unahang Olympic gold medal ng Pinas matapos ang 97 taon nang magreyna sa women’s 55-kilogram division.
