MANILA, Philippines — Bukod sa tulong-pinansiyal ay suportado rin ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ang mental health ng mga national rowers na tatarget ng Olympic Games berth sa Tokyo, Japan.

Ang Medical Scientific Athletes Services (MSAS) units ng PSC ang nagpapatibay sa pag-iisip ng five man-national rowing team na sasagwan sa 2021 World Rowing Asian-Oceanian Olympic Qualification Regatta sa Tokyo Bay.

“Diretso ang suporta at monitoring nila (PSC) sa amin. Hindi man naging madali ang preparations, motivated ang mga athletes natin,” ani national rowing coach Edgardo Maerina, ang kauna-unahang Pinoy na sumabak sa Olympics rowing event noong 1988 sa Seoul, Korea.

Tiniyak naman ni PSC chairman William “Butch” Ramirez ang kanilang suporta sa mga national rowers na pamumunuan nina 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalists Melcah Jen Caballero at Joanie Delgaco. “The PSC will give all-out support for our athletes no matter the present situation, for as long as we can,” ani Ramirez.

Sasabak sina Caballero at Delgaco sa women’s lightweight double sculls habang lalahok sina Zuriel Sumintac at Roque Abala sa men’s lightweight double sculls at lalaban si Cris Nievarez sa men’s single sculls.

“Salamat po sa PSC sa pagsuporta at pagtitiwala sa amin,” sabi ni Caballero. “Regular po ang online consultations namin sa sports psychology and sports physiology.”
