National athletes, coaches umaasang mabibigyan ng bakuna

MANILA, Philippines — Umaasa pa rin ang mga national athletes at coaches na maisasama sila sa priority list ng gobyerno para sa bibigyan ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines.

Kasalukuyan nang nasa ‘bubble’ training ang mga elite athletes kasama ang kanilang mga coaches bilang paghahanda sa 2021 Olympics Games at Southeast Asian Games.

Tanging ang mga frontliners lamang ang prayoridad ng gobyerno para sa COVID-19 vaccines.

“Antay lang kami ng pasabi nila (Philippine Sports Commission) kung kasama kami sa priorities nila (gobyerno),” wika kahapon ni national women’s boxing head coach Boy Velasco.

Kasama ni Velasco sina Olympic-bound Irish Magno at  Olympic hopefuls Nesthy Petecio at Carlo Paalam sa ‘bubble’ training sa Inspire Sports Academy sa Calamba, Laguna.

“Kung mayroon okay lang. Maganda nga po iyan para safe na ang mga athletes at coaches kung may vaccines na,” dagdag ni Velasco.

Dumating na sa bansa kamakalawa ang Sinovac Biotech vaccine na donasyon ng China.

“We are hoping that vaccination will be made available soon (for national athletes),” ani PSC chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez.
