Pinoy paddlers sasagwan ng 3 ginto
SUBIC, Philippines — Tatlong gintong medalya ang determinadong makamit ng Philippine canoe-kayak at rowing teams sa pagsisimula ng kani-kanilang mga kompetisyon sa 30th Southeast Asian Games dito.
Gagawin ang canoe-kayak event sa Malawaan Park at idaraos naman ang rowing sa Triboa Bay.
“We are eyeing to win at least three of the six gold medals at stake,” sabi ni Philippine canoe kayak head coach Len Escollante sa pagsabak ng mga national athetes sa 1,000-meter, 200-meter mixed standard boat at 500-meter men’s.
“We have an advantage over the climate, the wind condition and the boats. We want to come up with a good finish and make the country proud,” dagdag pa ni Escollante.
Nakatakdang bitawan ang men’s 1,000m singles, men’s 1,000m doubles at women’s singles 500m.
Samantala, tatlo hanggang apat na gold medals naman ang hangad ng Philippine rowing team, ayon kay coach at Olympian Edgardo Maerina.
