JAKARTA -- Nagawa na ng “Gilastopainters” ang kanilang misyon dito.

“When we came here, we projected to better our last finish in Incheon Asian Games,” pahayag ng naitalaga nang coach ng Gilas Pilipinas para sa World Cup qualifiers na si Guiao. “We have already achieved that but we can do better.”

Matapos ang 113-80 pananalasa sa Japan kamakalawa na pambawi sa kanilang 92-81 masaklap na pagkatalo sa Korea, nakasiguro na ang Jordan Clarkson-reinforced Pinoy squad ng 6th place finish.

Ngunit nais ni Guiao na maabot ang pinakamagandang pagtatapos na puwede nilang gawin upang bigyan ng pabaon si Clarkson na magbabalik na sa Cleveland Cavaliers para sa kanilang training camp dahil malapit na uling magbukas ang NBA season.

“We want to give Jordan a going away present,” ani Guiao. “We still want to finish strong. We still want to feel good about this after having sorry losses.”

Taas noo pa ring uuwi ng Pinas ang Gilas na hina­ngaan ng marami matapos bigyan ng matinding laban ang China na pinalakas ng dalawang NBA players bago tanggapin ang 80-82 kabiguan.

Nahigitan na ng Gilastopainters ang 7th place finish ng Pinas noong 2014 at lalaban pa sila sa mas magandang fifth place fi­nish kontra sa Syria bukas ng alas-6:30 ng gabi (7:30 p.m. Manila time).

Nakatakdang umalis agad si Jordan pagkatapos ng game gayundin ang buong koponan kung maaayos ang kanilang flight.
