Eleksyon sa PSI ‘di kinilala ng POC
MANILA, Philippines - Hindi kinikilala ng Philippine Olympic Committee ang isinagawang eleksiyon ng swimming kamakailan lamang sa Bacolod City kung saan nahalal ang dating national team swimmer na si Ral Rosario bilang pangulo.
Sa halip bumuo ang POC ng three-man committee para resolbahin ang matagal nang problema ng Philippine Swimming, Inc. (PSI).
“We, in the POC were not informing of the said election. We were told that even the reported elected president is not even a member of the recognized NSA for swimming. The election was just done to misguide the entire swimming community,” sabi ni POC secretary-general Steve Hontiveros.
Ayon pa kay Hontiveros, layunin din ng three-man committee na kunin kay PSI secretary-general Lani Velasco ang listahan ng lahat na mga stakeholders ng swimming upang magpatawag ng general assembly kung saan pagbobotohan ang mga magiging miyembro ng board of trustess.
Nang tanungin si Hontiveros na kabilang ba ang lumalakas na Philippine Swimming League (PSL) sa ituturing nilang stakeholders? Sagot naman nito ay lahat ng mga stakeholders ng swimming sa buong bansa ay kasali sa general assembly.
Itinalaga ng POC sina dating Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richie Garcia, dating IOC representative to the Philippines Frank Elizalde at netball president at abogadong si Charlie Ho bilang miyembro ng committee.
“We will meet on March 23 to discuss about this matter and then we will ask for the list of stakeholders from Lani Velasco, the secretary-general of PSI so that we can inform all legitimate stakeholders to call for a general assembly. Once the members of the board of trustees are already elected by the assembly, then the new board will elect the new set of officers,” dagdag ni Hontiveros.
Sa kasalukuyan, mananatili muna si Velasco bilang secretary-general hanggang sa election ng mga bagong opisyales, ayon kay Hontiveros.
Ang dating presidente ng PSI na si Mark Joseph ay hindi na nagpakita at patuloy na nagtatago dahil sa nakabinbin niyang warrant of arrest mula sa Sandigan Bayan.
Sabi pa ni Hontiveros na dapat mayroong 15-day notice kasama ang pag-sumite ng kinakailangang dokumento ang isang NSA bago magsagawa ng election para makapagpadala ang POC ng kinatawan.
