MANILA, Philippines – Sa kanyang pagbabalik sa Gilas Pilipinas ay may bagong bitbit na programa si head coach Chot Reyes.

Sinabi kahapon ni Reyes, muling iniluklok ng Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas bilang kapalit ni Tab Baldwin na magkakaroon ang bagong Gilas Pilipinas program ng training pool at magpapalit ng line-up sa bawat sasalihang torneo at qualifying matches.

Ang nasabing training pool ay kabibilangan ng mga Cadet signees,  pinayagan ni Reyes na sumali sa dara­ting na 2016 PBA Rookie Draft sa Oktubre 30 at iba pang PBA players.

“I will have to tell you now that the first part of my program of prepping for FIBA competition is to make sure that the pla­yers are in the PBA,” wika ng 53-anyos na eight-time PBA champion coach sa mga players.

“You’re all part of the Gilas program, and you’re all going to be part of the PBA draft. And my commitment to the PBA is every player who puts on the Gilas jersey is going to be part of the PBA draft,” dagdag pa  nito.

Ilan sa mga inaasa­hang kukunin ni Reyes sa kanyang programa ay sina Kiefer Ravena, Mac Belo, Mike Tolomia, Kevin Ferrer at Russell Escoto.

Paghahandaan ni Re­yes ang bagong format ng 2018 World Cup at 2019 Olympic qualifying calender ng FIBA.

Tinanggal ni SBP president Manny V. Pangilinan si Reyes bilang coach ng Gilas Pilipinas noong Oktubre ng 2014 at ipinalit si Baldwin.

Inihatid ni Reyes ang Gilas Pilipinas sa silver medal finish noong 2013 FIBA Asia Championship para makuha ang tiket sa 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup sa Spain.

Inaasahan ni Reyes na ipapahiram ng 12 PBA teams ang mga Gilas draf­tees.
