Balabal babandera sa Pinas sa World Indigenous Games

MANILA, Philippines – Babanderahan ni South­east Asian Games gold medalist Jason Balabal ang Philippine team na lalahok sa 1st World Indi­genous Games sa Palmas, Brazil.

Bukod kay Balabal, isang national team wrestler, ang iba pang miyembro ng koponan ay sina Mark Sumalag, Elvis Julius, ang Igorot na si Erlyn Balabal at ang mga Dumagats at Aetas na sina Ricardo Turgo, Jun Ablong, at Dumlao Naval.

Magtutungo ang de­legasyon sa Brazil sa Oktubre 18 na pangungunahan ni delegation head Col. Jeff Tamayo.

“Marami sanang kasali but we can’t because of limited budget,” wika ni Tamayo sa Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum sa Shakey’s Malate kahapon.

Lalahok ang mga atleta sa spear throwing, archery, canoeing, sprint (100 m) at sa wrestling (demonstration).

“Kaya nating manalo doon kasi mga warriors naman tayo eh,” sabi ni Ba­labal.
