P2.9 bilyong supplemental budget, inaprub ng Quezon City para sa ‘new normal’ education

MANILA, Philippines — Inaprubahan ng Quezon City Local School Board ang P2.9-billion supplemental budget para sa pagpapatupad ng con­tinuity plan ng lokal na pamahalaan kaugnay ng new normal teaching and learning habang hindi pa pinapayagan ang face-to-face classes dahil sa patuloy na banta ng COVID-19.

Ayon kay QC Mayor Joy Belmonte, ang naaprubahang supplemental budget ay gagamiting pondo para sa kailangang learning materials tulad ng mga gadgets, printed modules at internet allowances para sa mahigit 430,000 expected enrollees sa public schools sa QC.

“We are adjusting our budget to ensure that our children will continue learning despite the sudden shift from traditional to alternative learning modalities,” pahayag ni Belmonte.

Ang lokal na pamahalaan ay maglalaan ng tablets para sa 155, 921 enrolled junior high school students at 19,810 enrolled senior high school students gayundin ng modules, learning packets na mayroong flash drives at iba pang printed materials lalo na para sa mga Kinder hanggang Grade school students.

Ayon kay Belmonte, kasama sa budget ang paglalaan ng bahagi nito sa special education budget para pondohan ang internet allowance ng mga Kinder at Grade 12 public school teachers para makapag-online sa ilalim ng blended system of learning.

Ayon nman kay Aly Medalla, Education Affairs head ng QC, plano rin ng lokal na pamahalan na gamitin ang kanilang special education funds para punuan ang kailangang gadgets ng Department of Education (DepEd) para sa mga guro.
