Former professional ballerina Alison of Las Piñas City said the qualities that would help her ace the crown would be, “Honestly, I’m a very expressive person. I’m also caring, in general. I think that it’s important that we express our passions and that we chase our passions.”

“I want people to discover that power in them. They don’t have to be me. They have to be the best version of themselves and that’s the message I really want to share to everyone,” added Alison, who is a Business graduate from University of the Philippines Diliman.

Charyzah, representing Taguig City, grew up in Chicago where she found her love for the arts. “Both of these things combined, my passion for the arts and working with kids, formed the backbone of my advocacy initiative,” she shared.

On the other hand, Miss Aklan Beatriz, is a first year student at the De La Salle University-Manila pursuing Behavioral Sciences dreams of becoming a psychiatrist in the future. She has been joining the world of pageantry since she was 15. She is now 19 years of age.

A Philosophy major, Maria of Cebu City, said she is fit to win the crown because, “I see myself as a communicator. I tell people stories, stories that need to be told and open up the conversations that need to be had. Plus, this passion for women empowerment and livelihood for smaller communities. As a next Miss World Philippines, that is the Philippines that I would like to see…”

When asked why she is suited to win the crown, 17-year-old Miss Roxas City Erika replied, “My youth is both a weakness and a strength. Because I’m so young, I have less experience than the other candidates, I’m young in age, I am able to bring forward issues important to the youth and address them in new ways and methods.”

Moreover, expect a “bigger, more extravagant and more creative stage and presentation this year,” MWPH national director Arnold Vegafria told The STAR. “We are more prepared this time. Last year, it was so hard because of the pandemic requirements. For the coronation night, this is definitely gonna be a big one.”

“Owners of the three different pageants, Miss World, Miss Supranational Miss Eco International, together with their (reigning) queens, will be the guests during the coronation event,” shared Arnold.

Meanwhile, spotted at the press presentation were Miss Universe Philippines 2020 fourth runner-up Billie Hakenson (Cavite) and Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Charity Pauline Cucharo Amelinckx, who both expressed their interest in joining the world of showbiz, with the likes of Kylie Verzosa and Ariella Arida.

“We were talking about it earlier if I could be a stunt woman or something like that,” said Pauline.

Billie, on the other hand, quipped, “I’m James Bond and she’s the Bond girl (laughs).”

Billie is currently part of a gag show QuizonCT on Net25. She said, “So far, it’s good. It’s fun. (I’ve) not seen myself as an actress before but doing it makes me feel like it’s actually possible. It’s something that I might find enjoyable.”

“Like I said earlier, I don’t wanna close any doors, whether it’s in pageantry or showbiz. I always wanna find ways to go out of my comfort zone and grow as a person. So, who knows,” Pauline also asserted.

The MWPH finals night will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on June 5. Aside from the Miss World Philippines 2022 crown, they will also choose three winners to represent the Philippines in the Miss Supranational 2022, Miss Eco International 2022 and Reina Hispanoamericana 2022 international pageants.
