In Mandaue City, the barangays of Mantuyong, Canduman and Casili are the recipients of the P14.5 million worth of road concreting projects with drainage which Sixth District Representative Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon recently turned-over to the respective barangay officials.

CEBU, Philippines —  The Department of Public Works and Highways, through the efforts of two lady legislators, has recently finished road concreting projects and renovation of police stations in the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, respectively.

Ouano-Dizon said that not only the more than 15,000 households will benefit on these projects but also the neighboring barangays in terms of mobility and accessibility which will help these barangay’s economic and commercial growth.

“Ang Canduman and Casili dili ni flood prone area but we were able to improve their roads and drainage system most especially in Barangay Mantuyong kay lapok kaayo ni before and walay drainage,” Ouano-Dizon told The Freeman.

The lady legislator said that aside from being durable and safe, as well as low maintenance requirement, these concrete roads are considerably less prone to wear and tear defects which are the principal advantage of concrete pavements.

In Barangay Mantuyong, the road concreting with drainage structure with 130 meters in length and 4.5 meters wide amounting to P2.5 million; in Canduman, rehabilitation of Hervacio Seno St. with 205 meters in length and 6.1 meters wide amounting P3 million; and the Casili’s 720 meters in length and 5 meters wide road concreting and rehabilitation worth P9 million.

Ouano-Dizon has lauded the DPWH’s successful implementation of the projects and urged barangay officials and beneficiaries to maintain and sustain the turned-over projects of the government.

She added that these projects have been possible through the cooperation and collaboration of Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes and the City Council members who are very supportive of all her infrastructure initiatives in the city.

In Lapu-Lapu City, the DPWH-Cebu 6th District Engineering Office has allocated P3 million for renovation of the three police stations through the effort of Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Representative Paz Radaza.

Radaza said that the now renovated police stations were allocated with P1 million each.

The three police stations are Police Station 2 located in Barangay Mactan, Police Station 3 in Gun-ob and Police Station 5 in Barangay Pusok.

Radaza said that every police officer plays a vital role in securing the peace and order that is why she is in full support of the city’s police force.

“Ako naman gyud ni gipang suroy ang mga police stations sa syudad ug sa akong paglingkod isip kongresista, akong gituman akong saad nga paninduton nila ilang mga police stations,” Radaza said.

The congresswoman also plans to allocate funding for the new multipurpose building for the Police Station 4 in Barangay Marigondon.

Radaza is also set to turnover several finished infrastructure projects that she coordinated with the DPWH. — GMR  (FREEMAN)
