P30k minimum na sweldo sa pribadong guro giit ngayong World Teachers' Day
MANILA, Philippines — Itinutulak ngayon ng isang progresibong grupo ng mga guro ang pagpapataas ng sweldo't mga benepisyo kasabay ng "World Teachers' Day," bagay na kailangang-kailangan na raw sa gitna ng krisis sa ekonomiya at edukasyon.
Naglatag kasi ng anim na demands ang Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT), Miyerkules, kasabay ng ipinagdiriwang na araw ng mga guro sa buong mundo ngayong ika-5 ng Oktubre.
"We will not be able to propel education recovery without resolving the teachers’ problems on overwork, low salaries and lack of government support," ayon sa pahayag ng ACT na inilabas kanina.
"We will not be able to negate the impacts of the pandemic to education if the government does not effect bold and game-changing measures that can alter the course of our declining educational system."
Aniya, labis na "overworked," "underpaid" at "undersupported" ang maraming guro buhat ng krisis na idinulot ng ilang dekadang pag-aabandona. Naglikha raw ito ng malalaking kakulangan sa paaralan, silid-aralan, pasilidad atbp. personnel at teaching resources.
Ilan sa mga hiling ng ACT kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang sumusunod ngayong papalapit na ang kanyang ika-100 araw bilang presidente:
- pagtaas ng sweldo ng mga guro: Salary Grade 15 para sa Teacher I; SG 16 para sa Instructor I; P30,000 minimum na sweldo sa private school teachers at nakabubuhay na national minimum wage para sa SG I employees at non-teaching personnel sa pribadong paaralan
- pagbawas sa workload ng mga guro at pagpapatupad ng teaching time na apat na oras kada araw. Labas sa regular duty at work schedule, dapat na raw silang bigyan ng dagdag na bayad. Ipinabubuwag din nila ang 15 days per year limit sa pagbibigay ng service credits
- pagbibigay ng laptop, P1,500/month na internet allowance at P10,000 kada taong cash allowance kada guro
- evidence-based education recovery plan at pag-overhaul sa K-12 system
- pagdoble ng budget sa edukasyon na katumbas ng 6% ng gross domestic product ng bansa, maliban pa sa ligptas na pagbubukas ng mga paaralan
Una nang sinabi ng Department of Education na merong projected na 91,000 kulang na classroom bago magbalik ang face-to-face classes.
Imbis na taasan ang budget para sa mga paaralan at classroms, humihingi naman ngayon ng nasa P150 milyong confidential funds para kay DepEd secretary at Bise Presidente Sara Duterte. Una nang binabala ng mga grupong maaari pa itong magamit sa red-tagging sa mga kabataan.
"Our education system is in the throes of crisis. The government must take care of our teachers who breaths life to it," panapos ng ACT.
'Kinikilala namin sakripisyo niyo'
Binati naman ni Bongbong ang mga guro ngayong Araw ng mga Guro, lalo na't naniniwala raw siyang sila ang sandigan ng bawa't masaganang lipunan.
"Today, we honor our dear educators across the country for ensuring our youth's holistic development as they aspire to be agents within their respective communities and beyond."
"Let this day be culmination of a month-long celebration in which we acknowledge the many sacrifices that our teachers make to mold our students and prepare them so they can achieve their dreams in life."

Magandang oportunidad din daw ito upang maipahayag ang appreciation para sa kanilang importanteng serbisyo sa bansa lalo na't dahan-dahang binubuksan ang mga paaralan habang tumutungo ang mundo sa post-pandemic.
