2 korte sa Muntinlupa pinayagan US lawmakers bumisita kay De Lima
MANILA, Philippines — Pinahintulutan ng Muntinlupa Regional Trial Courts 204 at 256 ang ilang mambabatas mula Amerika na mabisita si dating Sen. Leila de Lima sa kanyang detention, Biyernes, matapos unang harangan ng Philippine National Police (PNP).
Huwebes kasi nang sabihin ni Dino de Leon, abogado ni De Lima, na lumipad patungong Pilipinas ang ilang mambabatas ng Estados Unidos sa pamumuno ni Sen. Edward Markey para bisitahin si De Lima sa Camp Crame. Ito'y para pag-usapan ang itinatakbo ng natitirang drug cases laban kay De Lima.
Inaksyunan tuloy nina Presiding Judge Abraham Joseph Alcantara at Presiding Judge Romeo Buenaventura ang "extremely urgent motion ex abundanti ad cautelam" na inihain ni De Lima kaugnay ng US Congressional delegation visit.
Una nang inihanda at kinoordina ito sa PNP ayon sa isang liham na naka-address kay PGen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. nitong ika-10 ng Agosto 2021. "However, despite follow ups, the PNP has not timly responded to the request," ayon sa utos ng Branch 204.
"On 9 August 2022, Senator Markey conveyed a letter to PNP Chief Ronald Azurin that he is leading a Congressional Delegation on 18 August 2022, and they are formally requesting permission to meet accused De Lima in her detention center."
"Just yesterday, 18 August 2022, accused De Lima and the U.S. Congressional Delegation were informed by the PNP Custodial Center that they cannot allow the visit because, allegedly, there was no court order to allow the same."
Kahapon lang din nang sabihin ng Department of Justice Panel of Prosecutors na wala silang pagtutol sa instant motion at dinifer ito sa desisyon ng korte.
Sa ilalim ng PNP Memorandum Circular 2018-027, ang mga banyagang gustog bumisita sa mga Persons under PNP Custody (PUPC) ay dapat magsumite ng liham sa hepe ng PNP dalawang linggo bago ito. Dapat din daw itong iendorso ng Department of Foreign Affairs.
"WHEREFORE, premises considered, the instant motion is hereby GRANTED," ayon sa utos na pinirmahan ni Buenaventura, na halos pareho lang sa order ni Alcantara.
Sa kabila nito, dapat daw sumunod sa safety and health protocols ng PNP Custodial Detention Center ang US Congressional Delegration. Ipinagbabawal din ang media o anumang uri ng social platform coverage habang nangyayari ang visit, maliban sa pag-iwas ni De Lima sa paggawa ng komento o pahayag na may direkta o hindi direktang may kaugnayan sa pending na court case.
Kahapon lang nang makapulong ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sina Markey kaugnay ng lalong pagpapalakas ng pakikipagkaibigan ng Amerika sa Pilipinas.
"We look forward to continuing our partnership with the US in the areas of renewable energy use, agricultural development, economic reform, and mitigation of drug problem," ani Marcos Jr.
Isa si Markey sa anim na senador sa Estados Unidos na nananawagan sa agarang pagpapalaya kay De Lima lalo na't bumaliktad ang mga tumestigo noon laban sa kanya gaya nina dating Bureau of Corrections officer-in-charge Rafael Ragos, confessed drug lord na si Kerwin Espinosa at Ronnie Dayan. — may mga ulat mula kay Kristine Joy Patag at ONE News
