COVID-19 'top 3 sanhi ng pagkamatay' sa Pilipinas sa kalakhan ng 2021
MANILA, Philippines — Binubuo na ng COVID-19 deaths ang 13.8% ng lahat ng rehistradong namatay sa Pilipinas mula Enero hanggang Nobyembre 2021, ito habang "third leading cause of death" na ang sakit locally kung titignan ang bilang ng deaths kung saan "kumpirmadong" nakita ang virus — ayon sa pinakahuling datos ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Martes.
Hinati ng state statisticians ang COVID-19 deaths sa dalawang kategorya:
- COVID-19 with virus identified (67,494)
- COVID-19 virus not identified (29,718)
"COVID-19 with virus identified was the 3rd leading cause of death in the country with 67,494 cases or 9.6 percent of the total deaths in the same period in 2021," sabi ng PSA kanina sa isang pahayag.
"Meanwhile, registered deaths due to COVID-19 with virus not identified accounted for 29,718 or 4.2 percent of the total deaths from January to November 2021, making it the 8th leading cause of death."
Top 1 at top 2 sa leading cases of death sa Pilipinas ang ischaemic heart diseases (125,913) at cerebrovascular diseases (68,180), kumpara sa COVID-19 deaths kung saan natukoy ang virus na nasa ikatlong pwesto.
Gayunpaman, lumalabas sa naturang pag-aaral na 97,212 sa kabuuang 704,202 namatay mula Enero hanggang Nobyembre 2021 ang may kaugnayan sa COVID-19 kung pagsasamahin ang una at ikalawang kategorya ng coronavirus — bagay na magluluklok sa COVID-19 deaths sa ikalawang pwesto kung isusumatutal lahat.
"Registered deaths due to COVID-19 accounted for a total of 97,212 deaths or 13.8 percent of the total registered deaths from January to November 2021," paliwanag pa ng PSA.
Malaking pagtalon ang COVID-19 deaths kumpara sa 2020 data, kung saan top 14 lang ang COVID-19 with virus identified habang top seven naman noon ang COVID-19 with virus not identified.
Sa pagtataya ng The STAR, 700% na pagtalon ang nangyari sa COVID-19 with virus identified kumpara noong naunang taon.
By classification, #COVID19 with the virus identified was the third leading cause of death with 67,494 cases or 9.6% of the total. This is a whopping 700% increase from the 8,390 deaths in the same period in 2020 @PhilippineStar

Hindi tugma sa datos ng DOH?
Kung ang datos ng Departent of Health (DOH) ang titignan, tanging 39,267 lang ang namatay mula Enero hanggang Nobyembre 2021.
Sa kabila nito, inilinaw ng PSA na maaaring magkaroon talaga ng pagkakaiba ang kanilang datos sa DOH kahit na pareho silang ahensya ng iisang gobyerno.
"[The] figures in this release were obtained from the certificates of death particularly the descriptions written on the medical certificate portion therein as reviewed by the health officer of the local government unit concerned," ayon sa explanatory note ng state statisticians.
"On the other hand, the figures released by the DOH were obtained through a surveillance system."
Dagdag pa nila, pinagsama na nila ang mga "confirmed" at "probable cases" ng COVID-19 as of registration.
Inilabas ng PSA ang nasabing report isang araw matapos sumadsad sa 1,427 lang ang new COVID-19 cases sa Pilipinas, ang pinakakaonti simula ika-29 ng Disyembre, 2021.
Una nang sinabi ng DOH na kung magtutuloy-tuloy ang antas ng pagsunod ng publiko sa minimum public health standards, maaaring bumaba sa 83 kada araw lang ang new COVID-19 cases pagsapit ng ika-15 ng Marso ngayong taon.
