De Lima, abogado kinastigo pinako-contempt ng DOJ
MANILA, Philippines — Hiniling ng mga prosecutor ng Department of Justice (DOJ) sa Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court na i-contempt si Senador Leila de Lima at kaniyang abogado dahil sa mga komento na binitiwan ukol sa estado ng kinakaharap na kaso kaugnay ng sinasabing pagkakasangkot niya sa aktibidad sa iligal na droga.
Hiniling ng DOJ prosecutors sa pangunguna ni Provincial Prosecutor Ramoncito Bienvenido Ocampo Jr. na patawan ng “maximum penalty under the law” sina De Lima at Atty. Filibon Tabela Tacardon dahil sa indirect contempt nang magkomento sa media na tila sinasabi na napawalang-sala na siya ng saksi ng prosekusyon.
Kaugnay ito ng pahayag sa media ni Tacardon matapos ang pagdinig sa piyansa noong Oktubre 23, 2020 kung saan nagbigay ng testimonya si Artemio Baculo, financial investigator ng Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) at si PDEA digital forensic examiner Krystal Casenas.
“As improperly insinuated by Atty. Tacardon, it is not true that prosecution witnesses ‘reaffirmed’ that the accused was not involved in any suspicious transaction that would link accused De Lima to the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison. It is also not true that the said witnesses found no suspicious transactions between the senator and drug convicts,” laman ng 39-pahinang petisyon ng prosekusyon.
Isa pang punto nila ang pahayag ni Tacardon na tila binali umano ang testimonya ng kanilang mga saksi na sina Vicente Sy, Atty. Rigel Salvador at Dennis Alfonso na tila sinasabi na pinapawalang-sala si De Lima na kabaligtaran umano sa ibinigay na testimonya nila.
“In fact, the prosecution presented to the Court evidence to the contrary as clearly pointed out in the judicial affidavit of Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Darwin Canete,” ayon sa prosecutors. Ludy Bermudo
