'Peace talks termination gagamiting pang-atake sa mga kandidato'

MANILA, Philippines — Bahagi raw ng planong "pag-atake" sa mga tumatakbong progresibo at oposisyon ngayong 2019 midterm elections ang pinakahuling kanselasyon ng usaping pangkapayapaan sa National Democratic Front.

Ayon sa grupong Bayan Muna, sunod-sunod daw ang pagbira sa mga tumatakbong kritiko ng pamahalaan kamakailan, kasama na sa kanilang mga taga-suporta.

"The termination of the talks is not good for the cause of just and lasting peace but as well as the upcoming elections. It seems to be the signal to attack progressive candidates and the opposition so that pro-Duterte candidates would broaden their base in the Senate, Congress and the local government units," sabi ni Bayan Muna chair at Makabayan senatorial bet Neri Colmenares.

"Just the other night, President Duterte lambasted Congressman Erin Tañada and his father [Bobby Tañada] for supposedly always defending communists. Yesterday there was a government-sponsored  rally in Congress maligning the Makabayan bloc," dagdag niya.

Tumatakbo sa pagkasenador si Tañada sa ilalim ng Otso Diretso at inendorso rin ng militanteng Makabayan bloc.

Una nang binatikos ni Tañada ang pagbuwag sa government peace panel na humaharap sa NDFP para sa usaping pangkapayapaan.

Apo si Erin ni dating Sen. Lorenzo Tañada ng founding chairperson ng militanteng Bagong Alyansang Makabayan. 

Taong 2018, tumindi raw ang paniniktik sa mga guro at emplyeyado ng gobyerno na kaalyad ng mga progresibong organisasyon.

"Worse, in a span of a week, three of our campaigners were killed. Among them a former Bayan Muna coordinator," dagdag ni Colmenares.

Tinutukoy niya ang Lumad student na si Jerome Pangadas, Anakpawis member Larry Suganob at Bayan Muna coordinator James Vinas.

'Gagamitin sa pandaraya'

Maliban sa mga pag-atake, pinunto rin ng Bayan Muna na maaaring may inilulutong pandaraya si Duterte ngayong eleksyon.

Nitong kamakailan, idineklara kasi ang kabuuan ng Mindanao bilang "election hotspot."

Dahil dito, mailalagay ang nasabing lugar sa kontrol ng Commission on Elections.

"[T]he Duterte administration seems to be cooking something in declaring the whole of Mindanao as an election hotspot to ensure that progressives and the opposition would lose in the elections," dagdag niya.

Maliban sa Mindanao, isinama na rin sa listahan ang Abra, Jones sa Isabela at Lope de Vega sa Northern Samar sa mga lugar na ilalagay kontrol ng Comelec.

“The 'category red' classification may warrant the declaration of Comelec control over the areas,” sabi ni Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez nitong ika-19 ng Marso.

Paliwanag ni Jimenez, dulot ito ng mga banta sa seguridad at pagkakaroon ng mga karahasan sa mga nagdaang eleksyon.

Direksyon ng kapayapaan

Sinabi naman ni Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Zarate na tagumpay ito para sa mga "militarista" sa loob ng administrasyon, na sa simula't sapul ay nananabotahe na raw ng negosasyon

"This is truly unfortunate considering that this panel achieved in a few months what it took years for other government panels to accomplish," ani Zarate.

Pinangangambahan nila ang diumano'y pagtindi pa ng solusyong militar sa limang dekadang rebelyon, bagay na lalo raw magpapalala sa human rights situation at magpapalikas sa mga naiipit sa gulo.

"We will continue to work still for the resumption of the peace talks even as red-tagging, black propaganda and actual attacks are conducted by state forces against us. It is the whole country especially the majority of Filipinos that would benefit if the root causes of the armed conflict is addressed and just and lasting peace is finally achieved," kanyang panapos.
