Diokno walang puso – LP senators

MANILA, Philippines — Tinawag kahapon na walang puso ng mga senador na kasapi ng Liberal Party (LP) si Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno matapos nitong sabihin na hindi prayoridad ang pagtaaas ng sahod ng mga guro sa pampublikong paaralan.

Ayon kay Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, presidente ng LP, bukod sa “heartless” umano si Diokno, insentive din ito.

Naniniwala si Pangi­linan na hindi ito ang tamang pagtrato sa mga guro na matagal nang humihiling ng mataas na sahod at karagdagang benepisyo.

Ipinunto rin ni Pangi­linan ang ginawang pagdoble sa sahod ng mga militar, pulis at uniform personnel na isa aniyang positibong senyales upang mangyari rin ang kahalintulad na inisyatibo para sa mga guro at teaching personnel

“Beyond their traditional mission in the classrooms, teachers are mentors and influencers of the youth and of the community. Their critical role in nation-building could not be overlooked,” dagdag ni Pangilinan na isang retired na guro ang ina.

Idinagdag naman ni Sen. Bam Aquino na ba­gaman at hindi mapa­nganib ang trabaho ng mga guro kumpara sa mga sundalo, parehong dedikasyon din naman ang ibinibigay ng mga ito.

“Gaya ng sundalo at pulis, gumagamit din sila ng gasolina, bumibili ng pagkain at iba pang gastusin na nagtaas na dahil sa TRAIN law,” ani Aquino.

Ayon naman kay Se­­nate Minority Leader Frankin Drilon, kung nagawa ng Department of Budget and Management na makahanap ng pondo para sa military at uniformed personnel, walang dahilan para hindi mapondohan ang pagtaas ng sahod ng mga guro.
