“My dad is always a part of me kahit hindi ako lumaki na kasama siya. He’s always been a source of inspiration, na gagalingan ko, na pagbubutihan ko para ‘pag nakita niya ako, sasabihin niya na, ‘Yang anak ko kahit pinabayaan ko ‘yan, she turned out to do well sa buhay. Mahal ko talaga ‘yung daddy ko, I really love him. Probably it’s also the daddy issues ‘no, that’s why.

I’m gonna be there to serve him.”

I know, I know in my heart. And ‘pag nangyari ‘yon, wala talagang bitterness in my heart. Like yayakapin ko lang talaga siya and mamahalin ko ang tatay ko nang buong buo.

“If somebody knows Syed Mohammed Abdullah Moqueet Hashmi from Chicago, you have a daughter here in the Philippines, my name is Rabiya, you named me. I hope that you are okay, I hope that you are doing very well. If you need somebody, daddy, if you need me, I’m just here. I’m waiting for you.”

Post ni Beatrice sa kanyang Instagram: “Explore this earth not seeking paths but instead making your own… After years of attempting to get my degree in Mass Communication I finally completed my program, finishing as the Most Outstanding graduate of our batch. From winning Binibining Cebu in 2020, to completing my Basic Citizen Military Training, winning Miss Universe Philippines, finishing Top 5 at the 70th Miss Universe competition in Israel in 2021, to finally getting my degree yesterday, it’s been years of achieving milestone after milestone. Looking back I can never believe how I made it way past every challenge. God walked me through each and every step without a doubt and I have faith that if it was possible for me then it is for you too. Until my next milestone… a Jaguar continues to move forward. Adelante (forward)!”

Crazy Rich Asian, umaming gusto noong mag-suicide

Inamin ng bida ng Crazy Rich Asians na si Constance Wu na tinangka niyang mag-suicide three years ago dahil sa pagkuyog sa kanya sa social media.

Nakaranasan ng matinding bashing at online shaming si Wu on Twitter noong mag-post siya ng remark tungkol sa pinagbidahan niyang sitcom na Fresh Off The Boat noong 2019.

“I started feeling like I didn’t even deserve to live anymore. That I was a disgrace to AsAms (Asian-Americans) and they’d be better off without me. Luckily, a friend found me and rushed me to the ER,” kuwento pa ni Wu na hindi na dinetalye ang kanyang suicide attempt.

“AsAms don’t talk about mental health enough. While we’re quick to celebrate representation wins, there’s a lot of avoidance around the more uncomfortable issues within our community. Even though I’m scared, I’ve decided that I owe it to the me-of-3-years-ago to be brave and share my story so that it might help someone with theirs,” pahayag pa ni Wu.
