Now 74 years old, Dante Rivero, who started his showbiz career in the ‘70s, is still in demand for roles ideal for his age.

He is in the cast of the romance comedy, Love or Money, topbilled by Coco Martin at Angelica Panganiban, produced by Star Cinema at directed by Mae Cruz Alviar.

Would you believe that Dante shares some action scenes with Coco and still looks believable in it? “In his time nga naman kasi,” anang itinuturing ang sariling fan ni Dante, mula ‘noon’ hanggang ngayon daw. “Versatile siya.

“He dabbled, kumbaga, in action and drama. But, of course, pinaka-believable siya sa romantic scenes.

“At wala siyang pinipiling leading lady. No wonder, itinuring siyang top actor ng Lea Productions, where he was under contract for years.”

Buhay ni Mother Lily, hinihintay na matuloy sa pelikula

Marami ang nagtatanong kung matutuloy ba ang balak ng mga anak ni Mother Lily Monteverde, na gawing movie ang life story ng kanilang ina?

They have earlier assigned daw Erik Matti to direct it. True-hearted showbiz fan si Mother Lily, whose maiden name is Lily Yu. She is a Bicolana.

Her dad, in her time, was known in Bicol as the Copra King.

Ang later napangasawa niyang si Remy Monteverde ay kilalang basketball player sa San Beda College.

Sa Saint Scholastica’s College naman nag-aral si Mother Lily.

How Mother Lily eventually became a movie and TV producer and emerged ultra-successful in the business, it can be the real highlight of the movie.

Rey at Randy, wala na sa Tanghalan...

Well, based lang sa kuwentuhan among the hosts, yes, two of whom are Rey Valera at Randy Santiago, ng upcoming show ng TV5, Sing-Galing, well, mukhang maganda itong panoorin.

Bagama’t not necessarily a new concept ang show, as there was a similar show of this genre in the ‘90s.

It was a karaoke show, it still is, and the prizes are quite impressive. Aside na it could serve as a stepping stone to a singing career to the winner.

Parehong former seating judges ng Tawag Ng Tanghalan, daily pa-contest ng It’s Showtime, natural lang na, henceforth, hindi na natin napapanood sa nabanggit na show sina Rey at Randy.

Of Randy, who turned exactly 60 years old last November, November 26, that is, he is maituturing na “showbiz” born.

Their family used to own one of the most popular and busiest movie production outfits in the ‘60s.

It was the production firm where that late Fernando Poe Jr., (FPJ) did a number of movies, which eventually contributed to his being the unparalleled King of Philippine Movies.

Now, guess who was FPJ’S favorite director then?

Pablo Santiago, Randy’s dad.

A Communication Arts graduate from De La Salle University, Randy worked as an assistant director of his father. Until his decision to stick to singing.

Why Randy wears dark glasses, whether performing or out of the cameras, is another story.

In any case, ang importante, magaling siya, both as a person and a singer-performer.
