P20 bigas mabibili na sa Kadiwa stores

MANILA, Philippines — Simula sa Mayo 2, mabibili na rin sa mga Kadiwa stores ang P20 kada kilo ng bigas.

Ayon kay Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, simula Mayo 2, mabibili ang murang bigas sa mga Kadiwa stores o Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita.

Hindi naman tinukoy ni Laurel kung saang mga Kadiwa stores mabibili ang murang bigas.

Pero sa ngayon, anya nakipag-ugnayan na ang DA sa mga lokal na pamahalaan sa Visayas, San Juan City, San Jose del Monte sa Bulacan, Camarines Sur, at Mati sa Davao Oriental para makapagbenta ng murang bigas.

Ayon kay Laurel, tanging ang mga indigents, senior citizens, solo parents, at persons with disabilities ang makabibili ng murang bigas ng hanggang 30 kilos kada buwan.

“The new rice option aligns with the ‘Bente Bigas Mo’ pilot program in the Visayas and in the 10 local government units (LGUs) that have joined the initiative, where NFA (National Food Authority) rice is sold at P33 per kilo due to the national food security emergency,” pahayag ni Laurel.

“With world market prices now averaging just USD 300 per metric ton—down from a high of over USD 700—and with NFA buffer stocks at their strongest in years, we felt the conditions were finally right to launch,” dagdag ng kalihim.

Base sa monitoring ng DA, nasa P39.99 hanggang P58.17 ang bentahan ng kada kilo ng bigas sa Metro Manila.
