MANILA, Philippines — Dalawang barko ng China People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) ang namonitor sa northern coast ng Luzon noong Abril 22.

Ito ang kinumpirma kahapon ng Philippine Navy (PN), na naispatan ang dalawang barko sa tulong ng kanilang “intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities.”

Nakita umano ang mga naturang PLAN vessels na nag-o-operate sa magkahiwalay na lokasyon.

“At approximately 9:36 a.m., the aircraft carrier Shandong (CV-17) was detected underway about 2.23 nautical miles southwest of Babuyan Island, well within the Philippines’ archipelagic waters,” anang PN.

Ang Shandong na inilarawan bilang, “short take off, barrier arrested recovery” (STOBAR) aircraft carrier ay nasa 60,000 tonelada at may top speed na 31 knots.

May sukat itong 305 metro at beam na 75 ­metro at may kakayahang magdala ng 30 aircraft.

Samantala, ganap na alas-11:47 ng umaga naman ng kaparehong araw, nang ma-monitor din ang isang Type 815A Chinese electronic surveillance ship (AGI-797), may 33.11 nautical miles northwest ng Dalupiri Island, o nasa 38.91 nautical miles northwest ng Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.
