LGU inalerto sa Indian variant ng COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Inalerto ni infectious disease expert Dr. Rontgene Solante ang mga lokal na pamahalaan upang paigtingin pa ang pagbabantay at mas mataas na ‘contact tracing’ makaraang umakyat na sa 12 ang kaso ng Indian variant ng COVID-19 sa bansa.

“The only way to prevent further transmission in the community, especially to know where it is coming from, is to control and be monitored by the local government unit concerned,” ayon kay Solante, head ng San Lazaro Hospital-Adult Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine department.

Dalawang overseas Filipino workers ang unang nadisubreng positibo sa Indian variant na sinundan nitong Sabado ng 10 pang OFWs.

Sa contact tracing, nadiskubre na positibo ang tatlong indibidwal na naging ‘close contact’ ng isa sa unang nagpositibo sa Indian variant.  Hindi pa naman tiyak kung may taglay rin silang Indian variant ng virus.

Sinabi rin ni Solante na tama lang ang ipinatutupad ngayon na ‘general community quarantine with heightened restriction’ dahil sa mahigpit pa rin naman umano ito at magiging epektibo kung maipatutupad.
