Pagturok ng Astrazeneca tigil muna — FDA
MANILA, Philippines — Pinasususpinde muna ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sa Department of Health (DOH) ang pagtuturok ng AstraZeneca vaccine sa mga may edad 60 pababa.
Ito ang sinabi ni FDA Director Gen. Usec Eric Domingo sa gitna ng pagkumpirma ng European Medicines Agency (EMA) na nagkakaroon ng blood clots at mababang platelet counts ang ilang mga naturukan nito.
“We are aware of the recommendation of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to list blood clots as very rare side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine. While we have not seen such incidents in the country, the FDA has recommended to temporarily suspend the use of the vaccine for persons below 60 years old as we await results of the review being done by our local experts, as well as the official guidance of the WHO,” ani Domingo.
Tiniyak ng DOH at FDA sa publiko na masusing pinag-aaralan na ng mga eksperto ang mga impormasyon kaugnay sa mga pangyayaring ito upang makagawa ng nararapat na rekomendasyon sa paggamit ng nasabing bakuna.
Sa kasalukyan, hindi pa nakatatanggap ng anumang ulat hinggil sa side effects ng nasabing bakuna ang National Adverse Events Following Immunization Committee (NAEFIC).
“I want to emphasize that this temporary suspension DOES NOT MEAN that the vaccine is unsafe or ineffective—it just means that we are taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of every Filipino. We continue to underscore that the benefits of vaccination continue to outweigh the risks and we urge everyone to get vaccinated when it’s their turn,” dagdag pa ni Domingo.
Sa kabila nito, muling ipinayo ng NTF at DOH sa mga senior citizen at taong may comorbidities na magpaturok ng AstraZeneca sa kani-kanilang local government units (LGUs) dahil ligtas at libre ito na magbibigay sa kanila ng proteksiyon.
