Jeepney drivers gagawing COVID ‘contact tracers’

MANILA, Philippines — Dahil hindi pa papayagan ang mga jeepney drivers na pumasada, balak ng gobyerno na bigyan sila ng pagkakakitaan at gawing mga “contact tracers” ng mga posibleng naka-salamuha ng mga may COVID-19.

Sinabi ni Presiden-tial Spokesperson Harry Roque na ikinokonside-ra na ang pagbibigay ng livelihood sa mga jeepney drivers at may panukala na bigyan sila ng trabaho.

Ayon kay Roque, kailangan ng gobyerno ng karagdagang 120,000 contact tracers upang idagdag sa kasaluku-yang 30,000.

“Well, actually considering alternative livelihood for them, there’s a suggestion that they be employed as contact tracers, because we do need about a hundred twenty thousand of them and there’s only about thirty thousand employed so far,” ani Roque.

Ikinokonsidera na rin nila ang “complete reconfiguration” ng mga jeep upang makasunod sa minimum health standards.

Nauna rito, sinabi ni Roque na imposibleng magkaroon ng social distancing sa mga jeep dahil magkakaharap  ang mga pasahero.

Idinagdag ni Roque na may mga modernong jeep na posibleng payagang bumiyahe na hindi magkakaharap ang mga pasahero.
