Metro Manila sizzles at 36.2 degrees Celsius

Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Metro Manila’s temperature hit 36.2 degrees Celsius yesterday, the hottest recorded so far this year for the nation’s capital, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

PAGASA said vacationers would continue to experience warm weather until Maundy Thursday, but a tropical cyclone may form in southern Philippines during the weekend.

Sunny weather is expected in the country until Thursday, apart from isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the ridge of high pressure area and the easterlies.

Between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, the weather bureau expects the formation of a tropical cyclone east of Mindanao.

Although it is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday or Thursday next week, the cyclone is forecast to bring light to moderate rains over Mindanao, Eastern and Central Visayas, Bicol and over the provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon this weekend.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and the Visayas, on the other hand, will continue to have warm and dry weather conditions with chances of some isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms throughout the Holy Week.
