MANILA, Philippines — Nagparamdam ng lakas si Filipino-British Heather White nang sumisid ito ng isang ginto at isang tansong medalya sa 2025 Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet na ginanap sa Vancouver, Canada.

Inilatag ni White ang buong puwersa nito upang masungkit ang gintong medalya sa women’s 100m freestyle sa bilis na 56.47 segundo.

Tinalo ni White ang mga bigating tankers kabilang na sina Canadian Olympians Emma OCroinin na nagkasya sa pilak tangan ang 56.62 segundo at Kylie Masse na nakatanso bitbit ang 56.75 segundo.

Nairehistro ni White ang 56.42 segundo sa preliminaries para maabot ang bronze standard sa 2025 Southeast Asian Games na gaganapin sa Bangkok, Thailand sa Disyembre.

"Speechless at the moment! Our Philippine National Junior Swimmer, Heather White, managed to beat two Canadian Olympians, Kylie Masse and Emma O'Croinin, in the 100m freestyle in Canada,” ayon kay Jenny White, ang proud mother ni Heather.

Inaasahang mas mapapaganda pa nito ang kanyang rekord sa oras dahil nagsasanay sa ilalim ng beteranong American coach na si Abi Liu ng Bellevue Club Swim Team.

“On behalf of my daughter Heather, thank you coach Abi for training her hard. Your dedication and effort to your team has proven what a good program you give. Thank you so much,” dagdag ni Jenny.

Maliban sa ginto, nakahirit pa ng tansong medalya si Heather sa 50m freestyle kung saan nagtala ito ng 25.96 segundo.

Si Heather ay miyembro ng Philippines’ Behrouz Elite Swimming Team (PH BEST) at ng national junior swimming team na sumabak sa iba’t ibang malalaking torneo kabilang na ang dalawang edisyon ng World Junior Championships sa Peru at Israel.

Kaya naman proud na proud ang pamunuan ng PH BEST sa tagumpay ni White na inaasahang makakakuha ng silya sa gaganaping PAI National Tryouts sa Agosto para sa 2025 Thailand SEA Games.

“We are so proud of you Heather, you are doing an amazing job. I know you are just getting started. That is just the tip of the iceberg we tapping in. Wait until they see your full on potential everybody’s gonna lock in,” ani PH BEST team manager Joan Mojdeh.

Nagpasalamat din si Jenny sa lahat ng tumulong at sumuporta kay Heather sa kampanya nito sapul pa noong nasa juniors division pa ito hanggang sa pagtungtong nito sa seniors level.

‘Keep dreaming big and training hard, and do not forget your ‘never give up, always on top’ mantra. Thank you, Heather, for representing so well. We are extremely proud of you," dagdag ni Jenny.
