3 key players ‘di lalaro sa Ginebra
MANILA, Philippines — Hindi maglalaro sina PBA Most Valuable Player Scottie Thompson, Jamie Malonzo at Jeremiah Gray sa darating na Season 49 PBA Governors’ Cup na didribol sa Agosto 18.
May back injury pa rin si Thompson, habang sumailalim si Malonzo sa left calf surgery at nagrerekober pa si Gray mula sa isang ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury bukod sa damaged posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) at medial collateral ligament sa kanang tuhod.
Hindi pa sumasama si Thompson sa daily workouts ng Gin Kings para sa parating na torneo, ayon kay coach Tim Cone.
“I don’t think he’ll be a full participant right now. I would say at this point, if I am going to look at it objectively, he’s doubtful to start the conference for us,” sabi ni Cone sa kanyang star guard.
Tatlo hanggang apat na buwan namang hindi sasalang si Malonzo na nagkaroon ng calf injury sa dulo ng eliminasyon ng nakaraang Season 48 PBA Philippine Cup.
Hindi rin nakalaro ang high-flying Fil-Am forward sa kampanya ng Gilas Pilipinas sa Olympic Qualifying Tournament sa Riga, Latvia.
“Jamie, on the other hand, is going to be out for the next two to three months or probably three to four. I don’t see him coming back this conference,” ani Cone kay Malonzo. “Miah (Gray) hasn’t gone back either.”
Dahil dito ay aasahan ng Ginebra ang mga bagong hugot na sina Stephen Holt at Isaac Go bukod kay resident import Justin Brownlee.
