Alas Pilipinas maghahanda para sa FIVB Challenger Cup

MANILA, Philippines — Sisimulan ng Alas Pilipinas women’s team ang preparasyon para sa dara­ting na FIVB Challenger Cup kasama ang dalawang beterano at dalawang collegiate champions.

Inaasahan ni Brazilian coach Jorge de Brito na makakasama nila sa trai­ning sa susunod na linggo ang mga bagong dagdag na sina Creamline stars Jema Galanza at Tots Carlos kasama sina reigning UAAP champions Bella Belen at Alyssa Solomon ng National University Lady Bulldogs.

“The players are really, really excited to join the training starting next week. It’s really amazing what a win can do,” ani De Brito.

Gumawa ng kasaysa­yan ang mga Pinay spikers sa kanilang bronze medal finish sa nakaraang 2024 AVC Challenge Cup for Women na idinaos sa Rizal Memorial Coliseum sa Manila.

Pinamunuan nina ve­teran setter Jia De Guzman, PVL stars Eya Laure, Sisi Rondina at Fifi Sharma at collegiate standouts Angel Canino at Thea Gagate ang tropa.

Halos dalawang linggo lamang ang naging paghahanda ng koponan para sa nasabing torneo na pinagreynahang muli ng Vietnam.

“Imagine, with little training we already did what we did,” sabi ng 57-anyos na si De Brito. “So what if we had more time to train, imagine what we can get.”

Nakatakda ang 2024 FIVB Challenger Cup sa Hulyo 4 hanggang 7 sa Ninoy Aquino Stadium sa Malate, Manila.

Bukod sa Pilipinas, ang iba pang sasalang ay ang Kenya, Argentina, Puerto Rico at Vietnam bukod sa tatlo pang koponan base sa 2024 European Gold League at world ranking.
